Stremio Tech Update #83 – Stremio v5 & Stremio Web Updated

We updated Stremio Web and Stremio v5 for Desktop, here’s what changed:

Player

  • Progressive keyboard seeking, debounced so held keys stop overshooting
  • Subtitles stay above the controls; no more over-adjusted positioning
  • External subtitles no longer reload mid-playback
  • Fixed double subtitles (mpv rendering disabled on load)
  • Added transient subtitle offset for quick sync nudges
  • Hold D for stats, tap D to toggle
  • Virtual keyboard shortcuts work
  • Update banner for desktop app hidden during playback
  • Full casting support in the player
  • New Custom playback speed, redesigned speed menu

Details & Library

  • Addon dropdown stops jumping while scrolling
  • Context-aware card navigation — card and “Details” go to the same place, play/dismiss no longer double-fire
  • Episode rows got a play button; clicking an episode opens it instead of playing it
  • Dropdowns scroll to the selected option once loaded

Settings

  • Interface language names capitalized & Translations refreshed

Supporters

  • Intro/Outro popup: no random appearances, ignores zero-length outros, closes on next episode
  • Subtitle menu no longer stutters playback
  • Empty stream list shows a Content settings hint for Supporters
  • Fullscreen button stays right-aligned on unnamed streams
  •  Player profile gate fixed on refresh
  • Downloads with unknown total size no longer break

App Wide:

  • App no longer goes stale when unfocused

macOS app specific

  • Fixed macOS player input stalls
  • Improve Reconnection of interrupted HTTP streams
  • Ignore transient mpv event errors
  • Upgraded mpv to 0.41.0, libmpv2 to 6.0.0
  • Improve video loading experience in player
  • Improve local streaming server experience
  • Fixed WebUI context menu handling
  • WebView inspection enabled from the context menu

Windows app specific:

  • URL parsed and sanitized before open::that
  • Improve Reconnection of interrupted HTTP streams
  • Fix issues with seeking keys making the app slower / app quitting
  • Upgrade libmpv2 to 6.0.0
  • Improve video loading experience in player
  • Fixed WebUI context menu handling; WebView inspection from context menu
  • Fix Ctrl+G WebUI shortcut not allowed
