Stremio for LG TV Updated to v1.6.0

Posted on January 2, 2025January 13, 2025 by Alex

After updating it is important to restart your TV by unplugging it from the power socket, waiting a few seconds, then plugging it back in.

The Stremio LG TV app has (finally) been updated after over half a year of going through the LG app review.

At this point it would be hard to compile a complete list of changes, as many aspects of the app have been rewritten and improved in such a long time. But here is an incomplete changelog that we can recall:

  • Add episodes indicator for continue watching
  • Add next episode popup on player
  • Add background image on player loading
  • Remember selected tracks on player when binge watching
  • Add watched checkmark indicator
  • Add library filters
  • Add more interface languages
  • Add gamepad support
  • Show episode description when selecting episodes from the episode list
  • Fixed items limit on library
  • Fixed missing Brazilian Portuguese language for subtitles
  • Fixed episode description for series
  • Fixed default subtitles selection on player
  • Fixed various style issues
  • Fixed various navigation issues
  • Fixed showing all supported embedded audio / subtitle tracks in the player menus

It is important to note that this update does not fix Dolby Vision support, this cannot be fixed as it is a device limitation.

With this update we also made it easier to make user interface updates in the future without having to wait for the LG TV review, and that alone should be a huge improvement as we have more control over this aspect.

For those wondering about the Samsung TV app update: we are currently at 4 months and 14 days since we sent the app update for review and we are still waiting for their response.

What happened to being able to watch shows directly? Now in Stremio it just redirects to official main party streaming services.

Click on the Addons icon. It’ll take you to the Addons page. Look at the top center of the page. If it says Community Addons, click on that and change to Installed. Look at the list below and you’ll see all of the currently installed addons. Scroll down and uninstall WatchHub (it’s pre-installed by default). Now go back to your Home page and search for a title and you’ll see files magically appear as expected.

Many thanks to the dev team for tirelessly working on the app to make it better. As an owner of the LG tv this update is really great news, especially since now we can get new updates more frequently.
