We recently released the new versions of the Samsung TV and LG TV apps, there have been some issues which we believe may be fixed today with the v1.6.4 update.
Samsung TV:
– fixed a case where the app would freeze only on Tizen 5 (2019 TV models) after some minutes of playback
– fixed a case where playback would not start only on Tizen 8 (2024 TV models) (this was actually fixed yesterday with the emergency release of v1.6.3, but it is officially announced now)
– removed {\anX}
prefix that would show for some embedded subtitles
Some users mentioned that they see the video stuttering sometimes on Tizen 5, this is not an app issue, it happens with some video codecs on Tizen 5 (2019 models) specifically. This was always the case, it was not caused by the recent updates, but is a rare case. So when it happens, try a different stream.
LG TV:
– reduced the available options for subtitle size and subtitle offset to only those that will work with embedded subtitles also (as there are limits to what settings embedded subtitles support on LG TV) in order to normalize the subtitle settings for both external and embedded subtitles
The update will go live for all users within 24h, if you wish to try to speed up the process, then you should: first ensure that you are not running v1.6.4 already (inside the app go to Settings > About > Version), uninstall the app, hard reboot the TV (for both Samsung and LG you can unplug the TV for 10s and plug it back in to hard reboot), install the app again, open the app and go to Settings > About > Version to confirm that you are running the v1.6.4 version.
When can we expect to see the new UI on mobile devices, developers? I’m thrilled with the incredible work you’re doing for Stremio users!
As I wrote in the #35 update, on Tizen the fractional playback speeds of 1,25 1,5 and 1,75 don’t work. It works just at 1x and 2x. Tried with different streams of a same movie as well. Please fix it. My tv is: OLED 4K 55″ S95B TV 2022 (QE55S95BATXZT)
