We have been running a beta for the Android Mobile and Android TV apps for some time, and we have (finally) moved them to production so all our users can enjoy them!
We’re thrilled to present to you our all-new Stremio mobile app, designed from the ground up for speed, simplicity and the best user experience.
For our android apps you can install them from Google Play or download them from our official website.
The new Stremio Mobile App now shares the same core architecture as our Android TV app, enabling us to roll out new features faster and deliver a unified, seamless experience across the entire Android ecosystem.
This means that, just like the TV app, the new mobile app supports two playback engines: Media3 (ExoPlayer) and VLC, giving you flexibility and the best possible performance across devices.
With this update, we also updated VLC and Media3 to their latest versions for Android TV, ensuring smoother playback across a wider range of devices.
There are a lot of tweaks and changes to both our Android TV and Android Mobile apps with this release as the beta for both apps has been running for a long time. It is worth mentioning that for Android TV we focused more on ensuring stability and wider playback support.
As this is a big change for both apps, please make sure to report any bugs here.
