Stremio for Samsung TV Updated to v1.6.0

Posted on January 13, 2025 by Alex

After updating it is important to keep the power button on the TV remote pressed until you see the Samsung TV logo, this will hard reboot of the TV.

The Stremio Samsung TV app has (finally) been updated after over half a year of attempts. (and the LG TV app was recently updated too!)

While it would be challenging to provide a full changelog after so long, we can provide a summarised version:

  • Add episodes indicator for continue watching
  • Add next episode popup on player
  • Add background image on player loading
  • Remember selected tracks on player when binge watching
  • Show episode description when selecting episodes from the episode list
  • Add watched checkmark indicator
  • Add library filters
  • Add more interface languages
  • Add gamepad support
  • Fixed items limit on library
  • Fixed missing Brazilian Portuguese language for subtitles
  • Fixed episode description for series
  • Fixed default subtitles selection on player
  • Fixed various style issues
  • Fixed various navigation issues

With this update we also made it easier to make user interface updates in the future without having to wait for the Samsung TV review, and that alone should be a huge improvement as we have more control over this aspect.

    Hi guys,

Do you plan to fix the update, or is there a possibility to downgrade the latest version, as most of us Samsung users can’t watch nothing.

    p.s. the version is 1.6.2 not 1.6.0

uninstall the app, hard reboot the tv (by either keeping power button pressed on the tv remote until you see the samsung logo or by unplugging your tv from the power socket for 10s then pluging it back in), install the app again

users are reporting that they no longer have issues when they see v1.6.3 in the Stremio app settings (instead of v1.6.2)

Thanks for the update. Can you please implement different subtiltes colors for SDR and HDR content for the next update ? And also add a gray color. Because white subtitles on HDR are too bright on OLED TVs with high peak brightness. This can be resolved by adding transparency to the subtitles, but then, they are too dim for SDR content, so I have to manually change the color each time.
