Stremio is now available on LG TVs for models 2020+

Posted on April 30, 2024February 9, 2025 by Alex

We are happy to announce, that after a long review process, today we received this message:

Dear Seller, This is LG Seller Lounge.
Thank you for your inquiry.

The Stremio app was approved today.
Thank you for your patience.

Stremio is now available in the LG TV (WebOS) App Store for all models from year 2020 onwards!
(we currently have no plans of supporting older models)

When you search for “stremio”, it may not be visible in the main search, but you should be able to find it under the “entertainment” category.

Stremio is currently not available on LG TV in Middle East and North Africa + Ukraine for “culturally inappropriate content”, we are looking into it but cannot make promises at this time.

And we have proof!

I couldn’t find subtitles for some shows, is this a known bug, or do I need to find a new source for the subtitles?

Great thanks! Some small bugs I’ve noticed: subtitles outline/edge/shadow intermittently don’t display (some sentences yes, some no), subtitles chosen aren’t remembered for the same file when resuming, and back button returns to menu while I’d expect it to close the overlay.

Another issue: Server offline. Only after going to Addons and clicking Sync Addons, the Server status changes to online. Have to do this again after restarting the app/tv.

Also the outline of the subtitles does work on non-integrated subtitles. Only Integrated subtitles look different and behave inconsistent for me. Although I’d like to be able to make subtitles Bold, and change the Font.

How sad, my TV is from 2019, and reading that you don’t even have plans to launch older releases, that killed me 🙁

Avoid selecting torrents that have titles containing “DV “and “Dolby Vision” as these cause color display errors and other video player errors, including black screen.

@Jose, same here tv from 2019, with my experience running it on firestick and it buffers and freezes I doubt it will work good on tvos with smaller resources

Please, add light gray color to choose for the subtitles, because in HDR white subtitles are very bright.

You can change Opacity to achieve this. Color white Opacity 75% for example gets a greyish color

The app does not appear in my store yet. Could it be related to the country? I am using a 2023 model LD OLED TV and the operating system is the most up-to-date. What could be the problem?

I’ll just move my newly-bought FireStick to the master bedroom pre-2020 LG TV.

FYI: a general search for the new Stremio App within the LG Content Store does reveal Stremio off the jump! Ha! So great!

Ok, thank you, guys. There are a few bugs, though. DV is not working at all, and you can’t select audio in some movies or TV shows. When I select primary audio to polish (in settings), for example, it won’t select it automatically when I play a movie, but I know it’s available.

First off, fantastic work! Movies loaded so fast on my LG C3.

2 things I noticed so far:

    1) It seems background posters aren’t displayed when loading a movie/series.

    2) Fonts aren’t showing all details which is helpful to know what subs may be FORCED ONLY which is what I prefer.

Thanks again all! Hope you continue to support this!

Dolby Atmos works but not Dolby Vision.
Also even though I set English as my default audio track I still have to manually change it every time I’m watching something.

Other than that there’s barely any buffers and the experience is pretty smooth.

You guys are the absolute best. Good job wishing you all the best and success. I have both LG and samsung OLEDS. Haven’t had the chance to test the Samsung version however I have tested the LG one and there is an issue with Dolby Vision whenever I try and pick a source that has Dolby Vision the display shows anomalies plus it goes to HDR instead however using Chromecast and the same source works fine and also a minor detail I think it’s from LG side and not yours but the font in Arabic subtitles is iffy .
