Stremio Tech Update #4

Posted on January 30, 2019 by Stremio

Time for the first tech update of 2019! We’ve been busy to bring you yet another upgrade of Stremio – here’s what you can expect after your software updates.

v4.4.27

  • We have completely revamped the settings page. It now allows you to change your password, contact our customer support, toggle your subtitle preferences, subscribe to a calendar, access the add-ons section, and much more.
  • We mentioned the subtitle preferences; you can now set a default preferred language for these; change their color; increase or decrease the size, change the background, and select default subtitle and background colors.
  • We have added the option to set a predefined BitTorrent profile: Soft/Default/Fast. If you want to learn more about this, check out our blogpost on the topic.
  • A spatial navigation has been added to the Calendar and Add-on sections of your account, i.e. you can use your keyboard to navigate these.
  • We’ve added support for gamepad navigation.
• We removed the Google+ button from the sharing options, because – you know – G+ is dead now.
  • Hardware decoding is now turned off by default

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where information about poor source is shown when using external player
  • Fixed an issue where posters sometimes were not displayed in the Calendar section
  • Minor user interface fixes

What’s new at the office

We have recently been discussing getting some plants for the office. On one hand, it will really improve the quality of the air and the general ambiance. On the other, we’re pretty sure we’ll kill them plans quite fast. See – a tough decision.

I like so much stremio and I think it has so much potential! It would be great if there was the possibility to monetize movies (with ads, like on YouTube). Obviously only who has rights for streaming the content will have this possibility. I think that this could be a new form of watching movies legally without paying. All the revenue (for both stremio and copyright’s proprietaries) would come from ads. Furthermore, if a user doesn’t want ads, he could be able to buy a Premium account! More revenue for both stremio and contents producers, and more people able to access movies 🙂 In other words, to create a system similar to Spotify that works for movies rather than for music.

Hi… this is the most promising app by far. Are you seriously taking android TV platform ? I cannot run stremio properly on my TV (posted a bug report about 1 month back) and am waiting for the day when it would give an android tv remote controlled interface with bugs fixed.

I enjoy stremio and have recently updated to the new version.
The fonts on the initial screen are far too big and I cannot reduce them.
The sound, subtitle and other control signs are too big and take a lot os space on the video screen.
Please, informe me How do I fix them?

    Thank you.
